SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN Base)

Job Vacancy: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN Base (Primary School, Sefton)
Start Date: After October Half Term
Location: Sefton, Merseyside
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs in a nurturing and structured environment? A welcoming primary school in Sefton is seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEN base team.


About the Role:
This is a full-time role working within a specialist provision on-site at a mainstream primary school. You will support pupils with a range of complex needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to pupils within the SEN base, both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Assist in delivering individual education plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning activities
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and external professionals
  • Support pupils with personal care and emotional regulation when required


Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a specialist setting
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) desirable
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
