SEN Teaching Assistant – Bishopsworth, Bristol

Hours: Full‑time or part‑time
A welcoming primary school in Bishops worth is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide focused 1:1 support. This role is ideal for someone with strong SEN experience who is passionate about helping pupils access learning in a supportive, structured environment.
Role Overview
- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies
- Encourage engagement, confidence and emotional regulation
- Support classroom routines, transitions and small‑group work
Candidate Profile
- Previous SEN experience is essential
- Calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and rapport‑building skills
- Level 2/3 TA qualification advantageous
- Driving licence beneficial
- SEN training highly valued, including:
- Understanding Autism
- ADHD Awareness
- Team Teach / De‑escalation Training
- Trauma‑Informed Practice
- BSL or communication‑based training
- Makaton (highly desirable for supporting communication needs)
