SEN English Teacher

Hays Education are supporting a Special Needs school in recruiting a dedicated SEN English Teacher. The role will be to start in September 2026 and will probably run for the duration of the autumn term whilst the school carry out recruitment for a permanent position within the department. The details are as follows:

  • The school is located in south Birmingham, approximately 20 minutes from the city centre and describes themselves as a focussed and dedicated school who have young people at the centre of their ethos
  • It caters for children at KS3 & KS4 level with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH)
  • The role entails planning, teaching and assessing the English curriculum up and including GCSE level
  • Class sizes are between 5 – 15 pupils and the majority of lessons are supported by a Teaching Assistant
  • The role is on a temporary time sheet basis and will be paid at MPS + SEN point through a weekly time sheet
  • The successful candidate will have experience of teaching children with SEMH and ADHD and will ideally have QTS
  • You will be able to demonstrate the key competencies of working with children with SEMH and also de-escalation techniques
  • Hays Education will be able to obtain recent satisfactory references that reflect this experience
