1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role, Starting in September

Are you a caring and committed individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

This primary school is seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 child with Autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey by providing tailored support in line with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide individualised support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism, ensuring their needs are met in line with their EHCP
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and strategies
  • Maintain a daily journal to log the child’s progress, achievements, and areas for development
  • Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing and structured environment
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children with Autism or other additional needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour and communication
  • Strong collaboration skills to liaise effectively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable.
