Winsford. SEMH interventions across KS1 and KS2. Long-term contract starting in November.
Your new company
Hays Recruitment is proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Winsford that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract, starting after the half-term. This is an extremely welcoming and supportive school that has high SEMH pupil numbers and requires a behaviour specialist teaching assistant to offer comprehension 1:1 interventions across the school. This contract will last until Christmas, in the first instance, with a possible extension for the right individual.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will play an integral role in the education of a select number of pupils across KS1 and KS2 that have SEMH due to previous trauma. You will offer 1:1 support across KS1 and KS2 on a timetabled basis, planning and delivering bespoke interventions to meet your pupils' EHCP requirements. The interventions that you will be delivering will cover key areas, including ELSA, behaviour, well-being and core subjects. You will take a pupil-centred approach to support, ensuring that the needs of your new pupils are at the heart of all operations, which will in turn aid in building strong constructive relationships. As you will be supporting SEMH, your pupils may at times present challenging behaviours as a cry out for help. To support this, you will also implement an array of positive behaviour strategies, including reward charts, movement breaks, brain breaks, positive reinforcement and other strategies that you feel your pupils will respond well to. As the behaviour of your pupils improves, you will integrate them into new pupil groups and classes. You will also accurately record your pupil progress and records, giving direct feedback to class teachers, the SENCO and guardians, as well as recognising key milestones.
