Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded school in Wigan to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half term. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, in a role that offers both challenge and reward.
Your new role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement tailored support strategies.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional resilience in pupils.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in education, care, or youth settings).
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
