Northwich. KS2 SEMH class, complex behavioural needs. Long-term full-time contract.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Northwich as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated SEN teaching assistant to support a KS2 SEMH class. This is a long-term full-time contract 32.5 hours per week starting after the half-term. An earlier start date can be facilitated if required.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based within a KS2 class, supporting a class of 6 pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. You will be part of a team of 4, consisting of 1 class teacher and 3 teaching assistants. The pupils you will be supporting are working at capacity but have a tailored curriculum in place due to their needs. They require 1:1 support, breaking down learning materials and tailoring delivery to best suit their needs and emotional state. You will make strong constructive relationships with your pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to their education and getting to know them as individuals, ensuring that their needs are at the heart of all operations. Your pupils have all been subject to previous trauma. Due to this, they will at times present complex challenging behaviours. To help deescalate, you will implement an array of positive behaviour strategies, aiming to deliver before the escalation point.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Have experience supporting SEMH and/or trauma
  • The capability to support complex behavioural needs and implement positive behaviour strategies
  • Team Teach training is advantegous

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of benefits, that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Company pension
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Highly competitive rate of pay
  • Onsite parking
