SEMH Teacher Job

SEMH Teacher – Long-Term Temporary – North Manchester

Your New Job
Are you a resilient and compassionate teacher looking for a long-term opportunity to make a meaningful impact? A specialist provision in North Manchester is seeking a SEMH Teacher for a long-term temporary role through Hays Education. This position involves teaching pupils aged 11–18 who are currently unable to attend mainstream education due to social, emotional, or mental health needs. The school operates within a hospital setting, offering a therapeutic and secure environment where education is tailored to meet complex individual needs. You’ll work with small groups or one-to-one, delivering a broad and engaging curriculum that supports both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Your New Company
This unique provision is part of a wider network of specialist education services across Greater Manchester. It functions as a hospital school, supporting young people under the care of CAMHS or other clinical services. The team includes teachers, therapists, support staff, and medical professionals working collaboratively to provide holistic care and education.
While prior mental health experience is not essential, you must be ready to get stuck in, adapt quickly, and commit to learning on the job. The school values flexibility, empathy, and a trauma-informed approach.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
  • Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged learners (mainstream or alternative settings)
  • Strong behaviour management and a calm, empathetic approach
  • Willingness to work in a hospital school environment and engage with mental health risks
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and work as part of a multi-agency team
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
What You'll Get in Return
  • Long-term temporary placement through Hays Education
  • Competitive daily rate based on experience
  • Access to specialist CPD and safeguarding training
  • Supportive leadership and collaborative team environment
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
