Section Engineer – Water - Leicstershire

Your new company

Our client, a Tier 1 contractor operating in the water industry, is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join their team in the Leicstershire area on a 6-month rolling contract. You will be working on sewage treatment works with scope of work including, but is not limited to, inlet works and a balance tank, storm tank and pumping remedial works, oxidation ditch as well as extension of an existing flow distribution chamber.

Your new role

  • Ensure construction records are completed including preparation of ‘as-built’ drawings and schedules and Inspection and Test Records.
  • Ensure records are kept, enabling the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.
  • Ensure recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e. drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork etc.
  • Provide engineering support to technical problems.
  • Regularly ensuring the checking of the setting out points and benchmarks, setting out instruments and measuring equipment, test & trace equipment are being maintained in accordance with the test & inspection plans.
  • Responsible for checking and ensuring detailed setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances and checking the workforce understand the technical requirements
  • Ensuring that accurate take offs, orders, delivery, and safe storages are made for materials, plant and equipment to meet the programme and minimise waste.
  • Prepare and communicate short term programmes and schedules for defined section of work.
  • Ensure workforce understand setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
  • Preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
  • Management and supervision of site engineers.
  • Production of Daily Site Diary
  • Participation in Daily Task Briefing and Short Interval Control meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant qualification (Management qualification / NVQ L3 / HNC / Degree).
  • CAT 4: CAT and Genny training
  • EUSR Water Hygiene (Dirty Water)
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to work.
  • Working as part of a team to deliver objectives of the project and company.
  • Enthusiastic, collaborative approach.
  • Liaise in a professional manner with Client, Client Representatives, General Public.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of the main management systems and processes used within a similar large multidisciplinary design and build projects
