About the Role
We are looking to appoint a committed and skilled Qualified Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a team at a secondary school in Newcastle.
This role is based within an alternative provision setting, supporting students who require a more personalised and supportive approach to their education.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted support, helping students to engage with learning, develop confidence, and overcome barriers to success.

Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse needs
- Promote positive behaviour and support students in regulating emotions
- Assist with planning, preparation, and adaptation of learning materials
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their development
- Support students both in and out of the classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 or equivalent)
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally in alternative provision
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs is highly desirable
- Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people
