Secondary Teaching Assistant Jobs
Supporting Secondary‑Aged Students in Special Schools
Are you currently supporting secondary‑aged students and looking for a role where your experience is genuinely valued? Do you want consistent hours, meaningful relationships with students, and the chance to work in a setting that understands the importance of skilled Teaching Assistants?
I am recruiting Secondary Teaching Assistants for special schools that support KS3 and KS4 students and place real value on experienced support staff.
Role: Secondary Teaching Assistant (Special School)
These roles are ideal for Teaching Assistants who are experienced in supporting secondary‑aged pupils, whether in:
  • Mainstream secondary schools
  • Special schools
  • Alternative provisions
  • SEN units
You will be supporting students with:
  • Autism (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • ADHD
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Behavioural needs linked to additional learning needs
Your ability to build trust, support regulation, and engage young people is key to their success.
⏰ Working Hours – Term Time Only
✅ Monday to Friday ✅ 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Full‑time roles available
  • Part‑time roles available (within 8:30am–3:30pm)
  • Term‑time only
  • No shifts and no late finishes
These roles offer balance and routine while still allowing you to make a meaningful impact.
✅ Why Move into a Special School with Secondary Students?
Special schools that support secondary‑aged learners offer:
  • Smaller class sizes
  • Greater focus on relationships and emotional regulation
  • Consistency and routine
  • Strong support from teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
  • Time to support students beyond purely academic targets
For many Teaching Assistants, this is where their skills truly make a difference.
Who This Role Is Ideal For
This role is perfect if you are:
  • An experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant
  • A Learning Support Assistant or Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Supporting students aged 11–16 (or up to 19 in some settings)
  • Passionate about behaviour support, inclusion and progress
  • Looking for stability, appreciation and clear expectations
SEND or special school experience is beneficial but not always essential — strong secondary support experience is highly valued.
