Wirral based high school looking for Part Time Science Technician starting asap.

Your new company

I am currently working with a high school on the Wirral who are looking for a part time Science Technician to join their team.


Your new role

The school already has a part time Science Technician, so are looking for someone who will work alongside them. They need someone who can commit to 2–4 days per week (they can be flexible on the number per week); two of the days do need to be Monday and Tuesday.


Hours are 8.30 - 4.30 on the days agreed. This Science Technician job is term time only.


As a team, you and the other science technician will be responsible for supporting teaching staff across the 3 subjects in the Science Department to prepare and maintain resources and work spaces for staff and students to work with.

Day to day duties will include:

  • Supporting the teaching staff through the design, preparation and use of equipment/ resources and materials to support lessons across Key Stage 3-5
  • Maintaining records of data relating to your curriculum area
  • Promote health and safety and the correct use/ storage of equipment
  • Monitor stock and replenish items as required under the direction of the department's budget holder
  • Maintaining specialist equipment including repairs
  • Demonstrate the safe use of equipment/ materials and support agreed work programmes as directed by the teacher within your designated curriculum area

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this post you will need:

  • Qualification in one of the 3 sciences
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Practical skills including the ability to set up experiments and maintain equipment effectively
  • Excellent ICT skills for the maintenance of department data
  • You will be comfortable working around children when required
This post will also require an enhanced DBS check to be carried out.
