SALARY: NJC 3 FTE £27,729 (ACTUAL SALARY £19,359)
Based on 28.5 hours per week term time plus two weeks during the summer - working hours will be Monday to Thursday 09:30 to 16:00, 30 min break, Friday 09:30 to 14:00, No lunch break.

Your new role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Science Technician to join our dynamic Science department. Reporting to the Senior Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of engaging and safe science lessons across the school. This includes preparing and organising equipment, maintaining laboratory spaces, supporting teaching staff during practical sessions, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and setting up equipment and resources for lessons
- Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and spaces
- Safely storing and disposing of chemicals and biological materials
- Assisting teachers during practical lessons
- Conducting safety checks and reporting hazards
- Supporting the wider department with administrative tasks such as photocopying and record-keeping
This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to supporting high-quality science education.
What you'll need to succeed
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications (Grade C or above)
- Experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a secondary school
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and health & safety practices
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- A flexible, approachable, and collaborative attitude
- Confidence using technology and managing resources
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
- Previous experience in a science-related role or relevant training would be advantageous but is not essential.
