About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Science Specialist Teacher to join our secondary school team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and subject specialism. You will play a key role in inspiring students to develop a deep interest in science, encouraging critical thinking, and supporting academic progress through high-quality teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver outstanding science lessons in line with the national curriculum for KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 if applicable).
  • Teach one or more science disciplines (biology, chemistry, or physics) with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, assessments, and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Person Specification:
Essentials:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in a science-related subject.
  • Experience teaching science at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in at least one science discipline.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Desirable:
  • Experience teaching science at A-Level.
  • Ability to lead or support extracurricular STEM activities or clubs.
  • Familiarity with current educational research and digital learning tools.
