About the Role
Hays is currently recruiting for a School Receptionist to join a welcoming and inclusive specialist educational setting in Swindon. This is a front‑of‑house role and would suit someone who is professional, calm, and confident working in a school environment where safeguarding, clear communication, and organisation are essential.
The position is available for an immediate start and will initially run until the end of June, with the possibility of extension depending on requirements.
About the Setting
The role is based within a specialist school supporting children and young people aged 4 to 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs. The school has a strong community ethos and is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for pupils, families, staff, and visitors. Creating a warm, well‑organised, and professional first point of contact is a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the first point of contact for parents, carers, visitors, and pupils
- Managing a busy reception area, including telephone calls, emails, and visitor sign‑in
- Providing administrative support to the wider school office
- Supporting attendance, documentation, and day‑to‑day operational tasks
- Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining confidentiality at all times
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- Previous experience in a school reception or school office role
- SIMS experience is highly advantageous
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A professional, approachable, and supportive manner
