School Head of Estates job | Temporary | Start ASAP

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000
Location: Derby (with travel across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire)
Contract: Temporary (potential to become permanent)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working; office-based approx. 2 days per week)

I am looking for an experienced Estates & Facilities Manager to oversee the management, maintenance and compliance of a multi-site educational estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage estates & facilities operations, including maintenance programmes and capital works
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and statutory requirements
  • Oversee asset management planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Manage contractors, projects and service delivery across multiple sites
  • Lead and develop a small team, promoting high standards and safe working practices
  • Deliver estates improvement projects (e.g. building services, boiler replacements, refurbishment works)
  • Monitor performance, identify risks, and implement effective solutions
Essential Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and legal compliance
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams
  • Experience managing estates, facilities or property portfolios
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (regular travel required)
  • Ability to manage budgets, contractors and multiple projects
  • Educated to A Level or above, including a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) grade C in maths and English
Desirable
  • Project management experience within building services or maintenance environments
  • Experience working across multi-site operations
  • Level 5 qualification in a relevant discipline or relevant experience at this level e.g. Nebosh, ISOH
