School Caretaker – Secondary School, Halifax

Hours: Monday to Friday, shift pattern between 6:00am and 6:00pm
Location: Halifax
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Temp

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands‑on School Caretaker to join a busy secondary school in Halifax. This is a key role within the school community, ensuring the site is safe, secure, and well‑maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and closing the school each day
General site and grounds maintenance
Carrying out basic repairs and DIY tasks
Ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and well presented
Supporting with health and safety checks and routine maintenance
Responding to maintenance issues as they arise throughout the day

About You

We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role. This does not need to be within a school — experience in environments such as student accommodation, hotels, facilities management, grounds maintenance, or building maintenance is equally valuable.

You will be:

Practical and confident with basic repairs
Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards
Someone who takes pride in keeping a site running smoothly

Additional Information

Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)
Full-time role on a rotating shift pattern between 6am and 6pm
