School Caretaker | Horsham | SEN School | £25,000 - £27,000 Per Annum | Permanent

Are you a practical, reliable, and proactive individual looking to make a real difference in a school community?
This school is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join their friendly and supportive team at a thriving Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. This is a vital role in helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our pupils, many of whom have complex needs and require consistency and care in their surroundings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out day-to-day site maintenance, repairs, and health and safety checks.
  • Ensure the school premises are clean, secure, and well-presented at all times.
  • Support with opening/locking up the site and managing deliveries.
  • Liaise with contractors and report any issues to the Site Manager or SLT.
  • Assist with setting up rooms and moving furniture/equipment as needed.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests calmly and efficiently.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for pupils and staff.
What the school are looking for
  • Previous experience in a caretaking, site assistant, or facilities role (school experience desirable).
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and general DIY.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in a school setting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Friendly and approachable, with a flexible attitude.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
