School Business Manager | Crawley | Immediate Start | Temporary Placement |Enhanced DBS on Update Service
Hays are working with a Secondary School in Crawley who are seeking a highly organised and experienced School Business Manager with a strong HR focus to join a school in Crawley for an immediate start.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in education HR, staff management, and compliance, who can confidently lead on people-related processes within a fast-paced school environment.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a School Business Manager role or education-based HR position
- Strong knowledge of HR processes within schools (recruitment, onboarding, contracts, staff records)
- Experience handling employee relations, absence management, and performance processes
- Up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and compliance in education
- Ability to work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
Key Responsibilities (HR Focus)
- Lead on all HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and safer recruitment compliance
- Maintain accurate and compliant staff records, contracts, and a single central record.
- Advise SLT on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters
- Manage absence, disciplinaries, grievances, and performance processes
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, KCSIE, and employment legislation
- Support workforce planning and contribute to staff development initiatives
