We are supporting a vibrant and inclusive school in Blackpool, dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for its students, seek a dedicated and proactive School Attendance Officer to join the team on an interim basis.

As a School Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting and ensuring regular school attendance. You will be responsible for monitoring student attendance, identifying patterns of absenteeism, and working closely with students, parents, staff and outside agencies to address attendance issues and any barriers to learning. This role will also require you to be proactive in making home visits to support the parent community and ensure students can attend school regularly.

We are looking for someone for this role with an immediate start on a temporary basis, but for the right person, this role could become permanent. A DBS on the update service would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track student attendance daily via the school system.
  • Identify and address patterns of absenteeism.
  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, staff and outside agencies.
  • Conduct home visits to support families and address attendance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and prepare reports as required.
  • Provide administrative support related to attendance, including correspondence and record-keeping.
  • Liaise with external agencies and support services as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Access to transport for home visits.
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures is desirable.
