REWARD CONSULTANT

Your new company
A newly formed organisation is requiring a reward consultant to define and propose employee compensation and benefits.

What you'll need to succeed
Experience of creating comprehensive benchmarking reports
Desirable but not essential experience of working within energy, oil and gas and regulated industries.

Your role
  1. Identify suitable benchmarking comparators by role category and geographic scope.
  2. Evaluate current pay structures, allowances, and incentive schemes across all job levels using regional, national, and industry-specific data.
  3. Review total reward offerings — including financial elements (salary, allowances, bonuses) and non-financial benefits (flexibility, development, wellbeing, recognition).
  4. Highlight any disparities, with a particular focus on technical roles within key regional hubs such as North East and Yorkshire.
  5. Recommend adjustments to compensation ranges and non-financial benefits, and suggest market alignment targets by role group.
  6. Identify priority roles that may require tailored reward strategies to support attraction and retention.
  7. Provide guidance on implementation of the organisation’s regulatory and governance framework
Scope of Work:
  • Source and analyse market data from reputable salary surveys, benchmarking platforms, and sector-specific reports.
  • Advise on job evaluation and grading methodology to ensure both internal fairness and external competitiveness.
  • Develop proposed pay ranges for each role family and model the financial impact of potential changes.
  • Compare pension and long-term benefit offerings, including employer contributions, scheme types, retirement age, and employee inputs.
  • Assess current non-financial benefits and propose enhancements to support recruitment and retention (e.g. flexible working, relocation support, career development, wellbeing initiatives).
  • Deliver practical implementation recommendations that align with organisational policies and external regulatory expectations.
