The Role

The Role
This is a high-impact leadership role focused on ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic oversight of our rent and service charge setting processes. You’ll work closely with Finance Managers and budget holders, providing expert guidance and operational direction in this specialist area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Rent and Service Charge function, including two direct reports
- Ensure rents and service charges are set and reviewed in line with the Rent Standard, internal policy, and relevant legislation
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of rent and service charge budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations
- Provide expert advice on Section 20 consultation processes and contractual arrangements across all tenure types
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and effective communication of charges to residents
- Drive continuous improvement and best practice in rent and service charge management
Proven experience in rent and service charge management within the housing sector
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a small team
In-depth knowledge of rent setting legislation, service charge frameworks, and Section 20 consultation requirements
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Flexible Working
We understand the value of flexibility. For candidates with the right experience, this role can be performed remotely, with only 1–2 days per month required in our Essex office.
