Your New Role

As a Regulatory Services Officer, you’ll take the lead on complex regulatory functions including inspections, investigations, enforcement actions, and project coordination. You’ll act as a specialist in designated areas, supervise colleagues, and contribute to corporate initiatives. The role involves out-of-hours work, including evenings and weekends, and requires you to represent the council in formal hearings and legal proceedings. You’ll also help shape policy frameworks and provide expert advice to businesses, residents, and internal teams.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • A professional qualification in a relevant Regulatory Services discipline.
  • Membership or affiliation with a recognised professional body and evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory legislation, investigation procedures, and policy frameworks.
  • Experience in complex criminal investigations, project leadership, and staff supervision.
  • Confidence in enforcement actions, including issuing notices and attending court hearings.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative approach to work.
  • The ability to travel within the borough and work flexible hours.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
