Quantity Surveyor | Edinburgh | Residential and Commercial Projects

Your new company

Join a boutique, senior‑led property consultancy based in the heart of Edinburgh - a firm known for delivering high‑quality development, project and commercial advisory services across Scotland and the wider UK. Established over a decade ago, they’ve built a reputation for handling some of the most exciting, design‑driven and high‑profile projects in the market.

Their client list includes international sports stars, well‑known hospitality figures, leading distilleries, and members of the aristocracy. From luxury residential builds to landmark hospitality venues and major cultural refurbishments, you’ll be working on projects that are genuinely unique, prestigious and career‑defining.

The Edinburgh office is a tight‑knit team of eight, covering development management, project management, quantity surveying, building surveying and contract administration. This multidisciplinary setup gives you exposure far beyond a traditional QS role - all within a culture built on trust, flexibility and genuine work–life balance.

Your new role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be involved across the full lifecycle of high‑value, design‑led development projects. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, gaining hands‑on involvement in:
  • Cost planning, procurement and commercial management
  • Early‑stage development strategy and feasibility
  • Design coordination and consultant management
  • Programme oversight and site progress monitoring
  • Direct client interaction with high‑profile individuals such as sporting stars, dukes and duchesses, and hospitality figures.
Because of the consultancy’s structure, QSs naturally step into broader responsibilities – making this an ideal environment if you want to evolve into a more project‑management‑focused role later in your career.

You’ll also have the rare advantage of working directly with a Director who is a Fellow of the RICS and an APC assessor/mentor for over 15 years. He assesses candidates at final interview every year, giving you unparalleled insight into what you need to demonstrate to achieve chartership quickly and confidently.

This is one of the strongest APC development environments you’ll find in Scotland.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within consultancy or client‑side environments
  • A passion for high‑quality, design‑led projects
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and consultants
  • Ambition – whether that’s chartership, progression, or broadening into PM responsibilities
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a flexible, senior‑led environment
If you’re driven, curious, and keen to work on projects that genuinely stand out, you’ll fit right in.

What you'll get in return

This consultancy is committed to rewarding and developing its people. You can expect:

  • Above‑market salary, with car allowance rolled into base pay (Between 36k to 45k)
  • Full payment of professional subscriptions
  • Fuel expenses covered
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • New business bonus - recurring percentage for every project you bring in (you are not required to bring in work at this level, but the bonus is there if you do).
  • Planned profit‑share bonus linked to company performance
  • Flexible working - typically 2–3 days in the office, with full support for childcare and school‑run/life commitments
  • Direct mentorship from a Director who is an APC assessor, giving you the strongest possible pathway to chartership
  • Exposure to high‑profile, prestigious projects that elevate your CV and accelerate your career
  • A clear route into Project Management if you choose to diversify your skillset
This is a rare opportunity to join a consultancy that combines prestige, progression, flexibility and genuine senior support - all within a close‑knit, ambitious team.
