Your new company

You will be joining an established civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Derby. This multi-accredited principal contractor has a strong pipeline of work across multiple industries, delivering projects valued at up to £20m for high-profile clients, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Due to continued success, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their high-performing commercial team.

This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Derby office with the option for flexible working.

Your new role

As Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets and tender documents
  • Managing project finances, including cost planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Conducting valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring financial efficiency
  • Liaising with clients and subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance
  • Providing advice on contractual claims and procurement strategies
  • Supporting delivery teams with commercial and contractual guidance
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE regulations.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you must have:
  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar) or experience equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the civil engineering industry
  • Sound working knowledge of NEC form of contract
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
