Description
Product quality always begins at source. That’s why it takes people with uncompromising standards and real determination to work in a small purchasing and parts quality team within an exciting and innovative ultra-low volume (ULV) automotive project. In their pursuit of excellence, our team undertakes the purchasing and industrialisation activities for an exciting new vehicle project.
Job Overview:

The parts quality engineer develops and approves supplier’s processes and quality systems to ensure parts are produced to high standards. They confirm the supplier’s capability to manufacture and supply new and unique parts for the ULV vehicle project.

You’ll be part of a small dynamic team, working closely with engineering, manufacturing and the external development partner to develop new and unique components, ensuring that quality requirements and manufacturing processes are defined to allow the supplier’s process to be industrialised to meet the quality expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for the industrialisation of new products, applying the principles of APQP to ensure delivery to the project timing plan,
Actively steering suppliers to deliver quality components for the ULV vehicles
Working with suppliers to define quality and performance requirements.
Responsible for representing the quality department in project meetings, together with purchasing, engineering, and logistics planning.
Responsible for evaluating suppliers during the nomination phase of the ULV project.
Responsible for supporting the development phase to ensure that technical drawings and specifications are defined and deliverable by suppliers.
Steering the supplier development activity, supporting new and existing suppliers to ensure all the quality requirements are implemented.
Actively supporting production with quality concerns on new components.
Responsible for closure of all supplier quality problems from development and production.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience in a parts quality or a supplier development role,
Knowledge and experience of the automotive industry.
Knowledge of quality systems QS9000 or DIN/ISO 9001/ISO IATF 16949.
Audit manufacturing process and accurately assess supplier conformance.
Capability to understand and review technical drawings / specifications.
Good English and basic German language skills.
The ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels.
Qualified to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent (Degree, HND or equivalent)
