Python Engineer – 6 months, £550pd, outside IR35, remote

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation delivering cutting-edge automation solutions using AI and machine learning. You’ll be part of a collaborative development team focused on enhancing and expanding automation services for high-volume, low-complexity workflows.

Your work will involve developing and supporting systems that leverage OCR, Object Detection, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate document analysis and decision-making processes. You’ll contribute to R&D efforts, integrate solutions into existing platforms, and help drive innovation in digital service delivery.

What You’ll Need to Succeed


You’ll bring strong technical expertise and a proactive, collaborative mindset. Key skills and experience include:

Technical Proficiency

  • AI/ML technologies: OCR, Object Detection, LLMs

  • Libraries: Transformers/Hugging Face, PyTorch, OpenCV, PIL/Pillow, YOLO

  • Python 3.9+ with OOP, async/await, and debugging techniques

  • Data tools: Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy/psycopg2

  • AWS: Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, CDK, SQS, EKS/ECS

  • API development: FastAPI, Requests, JWT/OAuth

    Development Practices

  • Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), XP techniques (TDD, pair programming)

  • Infrastructure-as-code and cloud monitoring (e.g., Grafana)

  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience supporting production systems and disaster recovery planning

    You’ll also be expected to contribute to mentoring, team events, and continuous improvement of development processes and service quality.
