Health and Safety Compliance Officer

An established, not ‑ for ‑ profit organisation providing residential and community-based services is seeking a dedicated professional to support health & safety and statutory compliance across its property portfolio. Your New Role
As the Property Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring that all buildings across the portfolio remain fully compliant with statutory and health & safety requirements. Working closely with internal property teams, quality colleagues, and external service partners, you will:
- Manage and maintain all statutory compliance documentation.
- Coordinate fire safety, water safety, and electrical compliance records.
- Lead site-based property and health & safety checks, ensuring timely completion of required actions.
- Maintain and update compliance trackers and building records.
- Support with incident investigations and contribute to organisation-wide learning.
- Assist on projects including fire safety initiatives, implementation of property maintenance processes, and embedding best practice across services.
- Build effective working relationships with managers, area teams, and frontline staff to champion a positive safety culture.
This is a frontline, highly collaborative role requiring regular site visits and proactive engagement with services.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To excel in this position, you will bring:
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience in a similar health & safety or property compliance role.
- Understanding of relevant legislation including the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated regulations.
- Experience conducting audits, tracking compliance actions, and engaging multiple stakeholders.
- Confidence interpreting and applying legislation, identifying risks, and advising on improvements.
Skills & Behaviours
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work proactively on your own initiative.
- Competence using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
- Ability to prepare reports for senior leadership.
- Enthusiasm for promoting a positive safety culture.
Qualifications
- A full UK driving licence.
- Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH Geneal.
What You’ll Get in Return
- Salary £35,000–£45,000
- 37-hour working week, with occasional evening work as required.
- 12 ‑ month fixed ‑ term contract.
