Hays is proud to be working in partnership with a respected local council to recruit an experienced Project Officer to support their Equal Pay Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-impact initiative focused on fairness, transparency, and organisational change.

The Role:
As the Equal Pay Project Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of job evaluation activities. You’ll ensure the smooth running of high-volume job evaluations across directorates, supporting the council’s commitment to equal pay and fair employment practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project planning and coordination of job evaluation workstreams.
  • Develop and manage schedules for job evaluation panels and desk-based reviews.
  • Coordinate inputs from stakeholders and manage role documentation via
RoleMapper:
  • Track progress, identify risks, and produce regular reports for senior HR leaders.
  • Maintain detailed workplans with clear deliverables, owners, and timelines.
  • Allocate roles to evaluators and manage panel logistics (rooms, access, documentation).
  • Liaise with job analysts and directorates to ensure quality and completeness of job descriptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of evaluation status and completion.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Proven project management and scheduling skills.
  • Experience in HR, job evaluation, or organisational redesign projects.
  • Strong coordination and organisational abilities.
  • Proficiency with tools such as MS Office and Role Mapper.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Confidence in reporting, risk identification, and progress tracking.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
