Project Planner; Planning Engineer; Net Zero; Clean Energy

A leading engineering and technology consultancy is seeking an experienced Planner to join its growing Power and Energy Solutions team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact projects across the Net Zero agenda, including energy storage, hydrogen infrastructure, green hydrogen and industrial decarbonisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, influencing project delivery, and supporting teams to achieve right‑first‑time outcomes on technically challenging programmes.

Your new role

As a Planner, you will play a key role in supporting successful project delivery across the full project lifecycle. Key responsibilities will include:

Developing and maintaining project schedules across design, procurement and execution phases
Providing clear, timely reporting to project teams, senior management and clients to demonstrate progress and control
Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to build, manage and update project plans
Leading and contributing to interactive planning and schedule review workshops
Using Primavera P6 to carry out live schedule updates and modifications
Gathering progress data from internal teams, clients and supply chain partners
Developing Work Breakdown Structures and managing baselines
Supporting the development and continuous improvement of project controls tools and processes

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and detail‑focused planner who enjoys working in a team environment. You will be able to demonstrate:

Experience working as a Planner within an engineering, energy, power or related technically complex environment
Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6
A solid understanding of the project lifecycle and project controls principles
Experience contributing to or working with Earned Value Analysis
A high level of numeracy, with the ability to analyse data and present information clearly, both verbally and visually
Confidence leading planning discussions and schedule workshops with project teams and clients
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively
A meticulous approach to work, including reviewing and checking the output of others

Desirable experience
HNC or HND in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Background in the Power, Energy or Oil and Gas sectors
Interest in data analytics, reporting and automation within project controls
