Project Manager Civils based West Wales

Your new company
A well-established civil engineering contractor has secured a major project in Carmarthen, West Wales and is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery phase. The business specialises in complex civil engineering schemes and has a strong reputation for delivering major infrastructure projects safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. With work due to commence in September and a long-term programme of work ahead, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor at a pivotal stage of an exciting project.

Your new role
As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of a major heavy civils project in Carmarthen. This will be a site-based role overseeing all aspects of construction delivery, programme management, subcontractor coordination, client liaison, commercial awareness and health & safety performance.
You will be leading project teams on a complex scheme involving:
  • Heavy civil engineering works
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Reinforced concrete (RC) structures
  • Site logistics and programme management
  • Stakeholder and client management
  • Health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
This position will commence on an agency basis from 1st September, with the intention of offering a permanent position following contract award and successful completion of the initial period, anticipated in mid-November.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within a civil engineering contracting environment.
  • Strong background managing heavy civils projects.
  • Demonstrable earthworks and reinforced concrete (RC) experience.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, delivery and reporting.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work on a site-based project in Carmarthen, West Wales.
Candidates based in Swansea, Carmarthen or the wider West Wales region will be particularly suited to this opportunity given the project location.
