Your new role

As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of critical infrastructure upgrade projects within the gas transmission sector. Based in Warrington, you’ll manage the full lifecycle of control system upgrades at National Gas Transmission Compressor Stations, ensuring compliance with cyber security standards and the IEC62443 lifecycle.
This role involves managing multidisciplinary teams and overseeing the replacement of legacy PLC, SCADA, and networking systems. You’ll be responsible for delivering projects through FEED, detailed design, implementation, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full commercial, contractual, and technical ownership of assigned projects.
  • Lead project teams across automation, functional safety, control panel manufacture, and E&I installation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring strong relationships and successful delivery.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure quality assurance across all phases.
  • Identify and capitalise on variation opportunities and business development leads.
  • Provide regular internal reporting and contribute to strategic planning and resource management.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience managing engineering projects in sectors such as Energy, Nuclear, Utilities, or Industrial Automation.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with NEC3/4, MF1, or bespoke contract forms.
  • Familiarity with project controls tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, and SAP.
  • HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline (essential).
  • APMP (PMQ) or equivalent project management qualification (desirable).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IET, APM) is advantageous.
