Hay is recruiting an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Environmental Health and Regulatory Services to join a local authority on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-profile projects that make a real difference to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver complex projects within the council, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements within Environment and Regulatory Services.
  • Develop and implement project plans, processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Lead procurement activities, including drafting scopes, technical evaluations, and tender documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and partner organisations to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor budgets, timelines, and KPIs to ensure successful delivery.
  • Provide strategic advice and operational leadership on environmental, regulatory, and community-focused initiatives.

About You
  • Proven track record as a Senior Project Manager within local government or public sector, specifically in Environment and Regulatory Services.
  • Experience managing multi-million-pound projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and regulatory services, air quality improvement measures, and active travel schemes.
  • Skilled in procurement, operational readiness, and policy development.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and influence at all levels.

Desirable Experience

  • Delivery of grant schemes and community-focused projects.
  • Familiarity with Environment and Regulatory Services and public health initiatives.
  • Understanding of statutory duties and compliance frameworks within local authorities.
  • Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (CIEH) Certificate No. CS002275.
  • Housing Health and Safety Rating System Assessment (RH Environmental Ltd).
