Your new role
As a Freelance Project Engineer specialising in Overhead Lines, you will support the delivery of transmission projects across Glasgow and wider Scotland. You will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include interpreting technical drawings, supporting site teams with engineering solutions, liaising with design teams to resolve queries, and assisting with the preparation of RAMS and construction methodologies. You will also monitor progress, manage technical issues, and ensure compliance with HSQE standards throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer on overhead line projects (ideally 132kV–400kV)
- Strong understanding of OHL construction methodologies including foundations, tower erection, and stringing
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of UK safety and quality standards within the power or utilities sector
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering discipline)
- CSCS card (essential), with SMSTS/SSSTS preferred
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a freelance capacity
