We are currently supporting a Public Sector organisation in Swindon to recruit a Procurement Officer into their growing Procurement function after an internal promotion. The team ensures that the organisation follows an efficient, compliant and value-for-money approach to purchasing for goods and services.
Your new role
In this role, you'll manage a variety of tender processes in line with public regulations (PA23), champion procurement procedures by delivering value to internal stakeholders and provide expert guidance on best practice, routes to market and compliant purchasing.
Key responsibilities:- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for goods and services, focusing mainly on call-offs and mini-competitions with some open tenders where applicable
- Ensure that all purchasing procedures are compliant in-line with new public procurement regulations (PA23)
- Maintain the suppliers and contract database for contract renewals and performance
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to coach on procurement processes and best practices
- Identify cost-saving opportunities by reviewing contracts and negotiating renewals
- Conduct market research for new procurements and high-value category areas
- Champion social-value and sustainable procurements
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in a similar Procurement role, ideally in the Public Sector
CIPS qualifications or the willingness to work towards them
A strong communicator with the ability to liaise with all levels of seniority
Strong organisational and time management skills
Confident negotiation and influencing abilities
Knowledge of public procurement regulations (PA23 / PCR15) would be desirable
