Skilled Procurement Manager for a leading engineering company driving strategic sourcing& supplier performance
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing business within the advanced manufacturing and engineering sector. Specialising in bespoke, technically complex products, the organisation is undergoing a transformation phase, including the implementation of a new MRP system. As part of this evolution, they are seeking a hands-on and strategic Procurement Manager to lead their procurement function.
Your new role
As Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for leading both strategic and operational procurement activities. Reporting to the Director of Projects and Procurement, you will manage a small team and collaborate closely with stakeholders across Projects, Engineering, Production, Finance, and Sales. Your role will be key in ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance, and timely delivery of materials and services for complex fabrication projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and executing procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
Leading supplier management, including contract negotiation and performance tracking.
Driving cost optimisation through TCO analysis, supplier consolidation, and value engineering.
Overseeing procurement’s role in the MRP system implementation.
Mentoring and developing the procurement team.
Ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards, while mitigating supply chain risks.
What you'll need to succeed: You will be an experienced procurement professional with:
5+ years in procurement, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
A background in manufacturing or engineering, ideally with exposure to bespoke or fabricated products.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and process improvement.
A collaborative, resilient, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
Desirable qualifications:
CIPS Level 4 or higher.
Technical background in mechanical engineering, welding, or fabrication.
Experience in lean procurement or international buying.
