We have partnered with a consultancy to identify procurement experts to support a new project. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is commercially minded and experienced.
Your new role
The successful candidate will work closely with the client to review and interrogate data released in November/December, identifying opportunities for efficiencies, savings, and strategic sourcing. This will feed into future sourcing strategies and route-to-market decisions.
- Analyse spend data across either direct (e.g. trackside, platforms, lift maintenance, equipment, PPE, cleaning) OR indirect (e.g. fleet, FM, corporate services, IT) categories.
- Identify areas of opportunity for cost reduction, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment.
- Engage with the client in a “show and tell” format to present findings and gain buy-in for recommendations.
- Lead the process of developing strategic options (e.g. reprocurement of fleet, electrification strategy, depot rationalisation etc).
- Support the development of sourcing strategies and procedures, including potential routes to market.
- Provide insight into the supplier landscape, ideally with knowledge of rail-specific suppliers, particularly for equipment and infrastructure.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience in rail sector or infrastructure projects, with knowledge of rail suppliers.
- Comfortable working in a discovery phase environment – shaping strategy, not executing procurement.
- Able to engage and influence senior stakeholders through data-driven insights.
