Your new company

You will be working for a high-profile local government organisation who carry out vital work all over Greater London. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a world renowned government body, as you will gain experience in a high-profile and fast-moving procurement setting. The organisation operates within a hybrid working model, and as such you will be expected to be in the office in Central London 3 days a week. This is a full-time 12-month contract

Your new role

Your role within the organisation will be to manage procurement projects and strategies for the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering high-quality, cost-effective goods and services. Provide procurement expertise, support responsible procurement, and promote equality of opportunity.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with users, suppliers, and system providers.
  • Manage procurement processes, including buying, tendering, evaluation, and contract placement.
  • Achieve personal and team performance targets and savings.
  • Use category expertise to manage tendering processes and recommend suppliers.
  • Promote good procurement practices, focusing on sustainability, ethics, and best value.
  • Ensure new contracts are communicated and coordinated across procurement systems.
  • Provide procurement insights and support to officers and category boards.
  • Develop and provide reports for category boards and corporate requests.
  • Maintain procurement data and resources, including KPIs, SLAs, and supplier networks.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, health and safety policies, and equality objectives.

Technical Skills:
  • Experience in procurement or buying roles in large, complex organisations.
  • Familiarity with eTendering, Contract Register, and Survey tools.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and procedures.
  • Experience in responsible procurement with measurable benefits.
Alternatively, if you have a strong administrative background and have carried out high level admin (raising purchase orders, accounts payable, journaling) - you may have a very transferrable skillset.
