About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Buyer/Procurement Analyst to oversee our purchasing activities. This role is crucial for ensuring that all materials, equipment, and services are acquired at the best possible price and quality. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring essential goods and services for our construction projects, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and optimising procurement processes. This newly created role reflects our business growth and the need for a more strategic approach to procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery speed. Develop and implement sourcing strategies to meet project requirements and company objectives.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the most favourable terms. Continuously improve negotiation strategies to drive cost savings and mitigate risks.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement. Conduct regular supplier evaluations.
- Procurement Planning: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and develop procurement plans. Anticipate future needs to ensure timely acquisition of materials and services.
- Stores Management: Work with Storeman and Delivery Managers to optimise stock utilisation and drive cost savings.
- Contract Management: Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, including contract drafting, review, and execution. Ensure compliance with contractual terms, legal requirements, and company policies.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in procurement activities and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address issues to minimise disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
What you will need:
- Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Analyst, or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in electrical infrastructure.
- Proficiency in contract management, supplier relationship management, and procurement software/tools.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
