Your new company
Hays are supporting a large public‑sector organisation to recruit a Procurement Advisor to join their Finance team. This role sits within a modern, forward‑thinking procurement function that plays a key part in ensuring essential services are delivered efficiently and responsibly. You’ll be joining an organisation undergoing ongoing improvement across its procurement and contract management processes, offering a meaningful and impactful environment in which to develop your career.

Your new role
In this position, you will assist in delivering a compliant and customer‑focused procurement service across a wide and varied portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on tendering, quotations, contract management and procurement policy
  • Supporting the coordination and delivery of procurement activity in partnership with external Centres of Procurement Expertise
  • Contributing to procurement training and helping to embed best practice across the organisation
  • Analysing spend data to identify efficiencies, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Assisting contract managers with day‑to‑day contract oversight, supplier performance monitoring and review meetings
  • Handling procurement and contract‑related queries and providing quality assurance across Procure‑to‑Pay processes
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records in line with governance, audit and GDPR requirements
  • Preparing information for audits, compliance checks, Freedom of Information requests and other reporting obligations
  • Taking an active role in process improvement and supporting the rollout of new procurement systems and procedures
  • Providing resilience within the team and deputising for senior colleagues when required
What you'll need to succeed
  • A relevant qualification (HNC or equivalent) with at least two years’ experience in a procurement environment within a large organisation
OR
  • 5 GCSEs (including English & Maths) with at least four years’ procurement experience in a large organisation
  • A solid understanding of end‑to‑end procurement processes and public‑sector procurement legislation
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of accuracy in planning and delivering work
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and procurement/finance systems
  • The ability to analyse spend, supplier performance and contract data
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the confidence to advise and influence stakeholders
  • Sound judgment to select appropriate procurement routes within established frameworks
  • A full UK driving licence or access to transport
