Your New Role
As Principal Operations Manager, you will report directly to the Account Director and play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence across a defined area of a major contract. You’ll be responsible for managing a P&L of £10m–£29m and leading a team of 50–100 people. Your focus will be on driving performance, improving margins and cash flow, and ensuring service excellence through effective resource and supply chain management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing the business plan for your area in line with contract strategy.
- Leading financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability.
- Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure service delivery and profitability.
- Supporting bids and mobilisations, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promoting a culture of compliance, safety, and customer-centricity.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing operational teams and delivering against business plans.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting P&L performance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- A track record of leading change, driving improvements, and managing health and safety.
- Technical competencies such as IOSH Managing Safely and environmental awareness.
- A customer-focused mindset and the ability to uphold and promote company values.
