We are a specialist engineering and technology company delivering high‑integrity solutions across complex, regulated industries. Our work spans systems engineering, digital integration, control & automation, and safety‑critical infrastructure. As we continue to expand our technical capability, we are seeking an experienced Principal EC&I Engineer to take a leading role in shaping and delivering major engineering programmes.
Role Overview
As a Principal EC&I Engineer, you will act as a technical authority for electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering across a portfolio of challenging projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide strategic technical direction, and ensure that engineered solutions meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on technical leadership position and enjoys guiding teams through complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, design, and delivery of EC&I systems across the full project lifecycle.
- Act as the technical authority for EC&I engineering, ensuring solutions meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
- Produce and review key engineering deliverables, including specifications, calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to engineers, supporting their technical development and ensuring consistent engineering excellence.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements, resolve technical issues, and support project decision‑making.
- Conduct design reviews, hazard assessments, and compliance checks in line with industry standards and project governance.
- Support bids, proposals, and technical strategy development for new opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in EC&I engineering within regulated or safety‑critical sectors (e.g., defence, energy, aerospace, nuclear, or industrial automation).
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, control systems, instrumentation, and associated standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and act as a technical authority.
- Experience producing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation and calculations.
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles, lifecycle management, and configuration control.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is advantageous.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to lead technically challenging, high‑integrity engineering projects.
- A collaborative environment that values innovation, quality, and professional growth.
- Clear pathways for career development and progression.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
