SEN Primary Teaching Assistant Job in Greenwich, South-East London. Competitive Salary!

Location: Greenwich
Salary: Scale 3, spine points 5–6 (£29,434 – £29,855 per annum, FTE)
Contract: Fixed Term (until 31st August 2027), Full-time
Start Date: January 2026

About the Role

Hays Education is delighted to be supporting a primary school in Greenwich in recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant and welcoming school community that works collaboratively across Greenwich, Medway, and Croydon to transform the lives of children and families.

This role also incorporates Midday Meals Supervisor duties within contracted hours.

Key Responsibilities

•Work under the direction of the SENCo or lead teacher to support pupils with complex SEND needs, including language delay, Global Development Delay, ASD, and Down Syndrome.
•Engage and interact with pupils to help them achieve their best academically, socially, and personally.
•Support intimate care, physiotherapy routines, eating, and social development.
•Provide flexible support across the primary age range (3–11 years), working with whole classes, small groups, or individual pupils.
•Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the highest standards of achievement and well-being.

•Knowledge and experience of supporting children at all developmental stages, or a passion to learn.
•Recent experience of working with children with SEND, particularly ASD, is highly desirable.
•Enthusiastic, resourceful, and creative individual with a caring and approachable nature.
•Strong team-working skills and effective communication with staff, pupils, and parents.
•High expectations for all pupils and a commitment to their progress.
•Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) with passes in English and Maths at Grade C or above.
•Right to work in the UK.
