Maintenance Plumber located at HMP Coldingley in Woking
Job Title: Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level 2)
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Full-time 39 hours per week
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level 2) to join a busy facilities environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard by completing a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems.
This role involves fault finding, repairs, inspections, and maintaining accurate records, as well as ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out installations, servicing, testing, and commissioning of plumbing and mechanical systems in line with regulations and best practice.
Complete planned preventative maintenance, small repairs, and respond to service requests.
Prioritise workload effectively and escalate issues where needed.
Conduct maintenance tasks, surveys, and quality control inspections, including work in confined spaces and at height.
Monitor stock levels, request materials, and ensure all used materials are logged.
Assist and supervise external contractors when required.
Maintain clear and regular communication via site communication systems.
Support safe systems of work and undertake competent person responsibilities where appointed.
Participate in emergency and urgent maintenance tasks when needed.
Skills & Experience
Desirable:
Experience within building services, Hard FM, or the plumbing industry.
Knowledge of Water Supply Regulations and Legionella Control (L8).
Experience working on commercial or industrial water and heating systems.
Understanding of planned preventative maintenance operations.
Qualifications
Essential:
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Plumbing discipline.
Desirable:
L8 Legionella Awareness Training – can be provided if required.
Unvented Water Heater Vessel Course (G3) – training can be provided if required.
