HAYS Recruitment is working with a large residential accommodation provider in York to appoint an experienced HVAC Engineer with plumbing competence for a long‑term temporary role, with a strong opportunity to go permanent.

This is a static, single‑site position, working block‑to‑block across a multi‑building residential estate.

Role Overview

You will support the estates team with the maintenance, repair, and optimisation of HVAC and plumbing systems across several accommodation blocks. The work will involve system balancing, air handling unit upgrades, and general heating‑system tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out HVAC maintenance, diagnostics, and ventilation system checks
  • Assist with air handling unit (AHU) swap‑outs, commissioning, and decommissioning
  • Perform system balancing to ensure efficient air flow and heating performance
  • Deliver RAD‑off works — isolating, draining, and temporarily removing radiators to allow access for maintenance or system adjustments
  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance block‑to‑block
  • Undertake plumbing repairs where required
  • Ensure compliance, safety, and accurate reporting to the Estates Manager

What We’re Looking For

  • HVAC‑qualified engineer (e.g., F‑Gas, ventilation, air handling, or similar)
  • Experience with AHUs, ventilation systems, and system balancing
  • Confident carrying out RAD‑off tasks and basic plumbing maintenance
  • Experience in residential or multi‑block accommodation environments
  • Basic DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work independently
