Junior Plumber – Job Overview
Location: Huntingdon
Mobile role must drive

Purpose: As a Junior Plumber, you’ll play a key role in carrying out repairs and responding quickly to plumbing emergencies. You’ll be involved in everything from preparing work areas to installing fixtures and equipment, helping to keep buildings running smoothly.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt and effective maintenance service to customers.
  • Cut openings in structures for pipes and fittings using hand and power tools.
  • Test pipes and fixtures for leaks using water or air and pressure gauges.
  • Install and secure pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and appliances (e.g., dishwashers, water heaters, sinks, toilets).
  • Extend and connect piping systems for stormwater, sanitation, and water supply.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required angles.
  • Assemble pipe sections using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering equipment.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including replacing washers, mending pipes, and clearing blockages.
  • Read building plans and blueprints to plan installations and assess material needs.
  • Keep accurate records of work and complete detailed reports.
  • Respond to plumbing emergencies within set timeframes.
Customer Service
  • Always remain customer-focused, polite, and calm—even in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of excellent customer service.
Procedures & Safety
  • Follow all company processes and procedures to a high standard.
  • Attend training and departmental meetings as required.
  • Store and maintain plumbing equipment safely.
  • Report any property damage or breakages.
  • Adhere to all safety and security procedures at all times.
Person Specification
  • Experience in plumbing installation and maintenance.
  • Recognised plumbing qualification (e.g., ITI or equivalent).
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Able to work unsupervised and organise your own workload.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • Able to stay calm under pressure and respond to emergencies.
  • Basic numerical skills (arithmetic, geometry, etc.).
