Your new role
As a Planning Ecologist, you will provide professional and technical consultation on planning applications, focusing on ecological and biodiversity matters. This includes assessing the impact of developments on protected species, biodiversity net gain, and broader environmental effects. You’ll work closely with planning officers, offering expert advice and appraisals to support decision-making. The role is primarily remote, with site visits required depending on caseload. Support for site visits may be arranged for candidates based further afield.

What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- A degree or qualification in ecology
- Associate or full membership of CIEEM
- Experience in ecological planning, ideally within a local government setting
- Strong understanding of biodiversity net gain and protected species legislation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and GIS systems
- A protected species licence would be advantageous.
- Ability to hit the ground running and work independently within a consultancy-style function
