This NHS client is looking to recruit an interim Planning Accountant Band 8c for a period of 3 - 6 months.

Your new role

You will be delivering the financial planning across the Trust, including the design of medium and long-term finance models (LTFM) and support for major Trust-wide business developments, cases, and transactions. This role ensures the Trust remains responsive to changes in the NHS financial operating environment by modelling impacts, analysing risks, and maximising resource use. You will be responsible for developing a robust 5-year financial plan aligned with the clinical strategy and operational goals, applying sensitivity analysis to assess risk and sustainability. A key aspect of the role involves triangulating activity, workforce, and financial plans to ensure coherence and efficiency. Using data-driven insights and benchmarking, you will influence senior leaders in shaping sustainable strategies. The role demands strong collaboration across Financial Management, Financial Services, Strategy, Information Management, HR, and clinical and operational teams. You will provide expert leadership, combining deep accounting and business knowledge with analytical rigour and the ability to clearly present complex financial information to diverse audiences.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be an ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified Accountant with extensive experience working in senior roles within NHS Finance.
