Hays Education is working in partnership with a number of inclusive secondary schools across London that are committed to supporting students with physical disabilities and complex needs. Due to increasing demand, we are recruiting compassionate and skilled Support Staff to help ensure all students can access education safely and effectively.

Your new role

As a Physical Disabilities Support Staff member, you will play a vital role in enabling students with mobility or medical needs to participate fully in school life. You will provide both academic and personal support, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
This role may involve working on a 1:1 basis or supporting multiple students across the school.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting students with physical disabilities in lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Assisting with mobility, positioning, and safe movement around the school
  • Providing personal care support where required
  • Supporting the use of specialist equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, hoists, adapted seating)
  • Enabling students to access the curriculum through adapted resources and support
  • Promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion at all times
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement care and learning plans


What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities or complex needs (education, care, or support settings)
  • Be patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
  • Be comfortable supporting with personal care and mobility needs
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding practices
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check
  • Manual handling training or relevant care qualifications (TeamTeach) are highly desirable but not essential
