Personal Advisor, Children Services, Southend, Essex

Your new role

Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time Personal Advisor within a month's fixed term capacity until March 2026.
The new Personal Advisor will act as the focal point to make sure that young people leaving care get the right support as they move into adulthood. The PA will be required to work closely with young people, to create personalised and tailored pathway assessments and plans. Act as an advocate for Care Leavers, promoting equal opportunities and supporting care leavers to access housing, education, employment and health to achieve positive outcomes.
The Personal Advisor will manage a caseload of separated migrant young people and Care Leavers, maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality support and services, as well as acting as a Corporate Parent and adhere to all duties set out in relevant legislation.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 3 days a week.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position, you must have previously worked within front line services, preferably with young people, along with a qualification within social work, careers, education or equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
You will need to have worked with vulnerable children and young people, have held caseloads and formulated assessments and SMART plans.
You need to have the ability to relate to young people in a purposeful but responsive manner and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the needs of young people. Along with this, you must have experience of working collaboratively with partnering agencies and have some knowledge and understanding of children and young people who are open to social care.
